Some days ago I read an article on google webmaster about link schemes. One interesting point is about forum signature. On the article, google write that forum signature (link below the post/comments of a certain forum) violates his guidelines. It happens since it is considered to be unnatural links. It can be seen in the statement below:
Additionally, creating links that weren’t editorially placed or vouched for by the site’s owner on a page, otherwise known as unnatural links, can be considered a violation of our guidelines. Here are a few
common examples of unnatural links that violate our guidelines:
• Forum comments with optimized links in the post or signature, for example:
